Metronidazole (as Benzoate)
Ofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used for treating certain kinds of bacterial infections. Metronidazole is a nitroimidazole antibiotic medication used particularly for anaerobic bacteria and protozoa. Metronidazole is an antibiotic, amebicide, and antiprotozoal.
MECHANISM OF ACTION:
Ofloxacin stops the production of bacteria by inhibiting the repair and reproduction of their genetic material (DNA). Metronidazole enters the cells of microorganisms that contain nitroreductase, where its nitro group is reduced. Unstable intermediate compounds are formed which bind to DNA and inhibit synthesis, causing cell death.
