MECHANISM OF ACTION:
Dextromethorphan suppresses cough by central action on the cough center in the medulla. Phenylephrine stimulates postsynaptic alpha-receptors, resulting in vasoconstriction, which reduces nasal congestion.
INDICATIONS:
Complete relief of coughs and upper respiratory tract symptoms, including nasal congestion associated with allergy or common cold.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Hypersensitivity to any ingredients of the product; severe hypertension; ventricular tachycardia; severe coronary artery disease; narrow-angle glaucoma; urinary retention; peptic ulcer; emphysema; chronic bronchitis; as a treatment for lower respiratory tract conditions including asthma; during an asthma attack; if having a prescription monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) (certain drugs for depression, psychiatric, or emotional conditions, or Parkinson's disease), or for 2 weeks after stopping the MAOI drug; newborns or premature infants; breast-feeding women.
SIDE EFFECTS:
Blurred vision; dry mouth; nausea, stomach pain, constipation; skin rash or itching. Serious side effects can be fast, pounding, or uneven heartbeat; confusion, hallucinations, unusual thoughts or behavior; severe dizziness, anxiety, restless feeling, or nervousness.
WARNINGS:
Do not exceed recommended dosage.
DOSAGE:
As directed by the physician.
STORAGE:
Store in a cool and dry place. Protect from direct sunlight. Recap the bottle tightly after use.
