ORNIGYL-O TABLETS

DESCRIPTION: Ornidazole is a nitroimidazole which is an antibacterial and antiprotozoal drug used to treat anaerobic enteric protozoa. It is a drug that cures some protozoan infections. Ofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used for treating certain kinds of bacterial infections. PACKING: 60x20x10 tablets

MECHANISM OF ACTION: Ornidazole action occurs as a nitro group is reduced to amines that interact with DNA to cause the destruction of helical DNA structure and strand leading to a protein synthesis inhibition and cell death in susceptible organisms. Ofloxacin stops the production of bacteria by inhibiting the repair and reproduction of their genetic material (DNA). INDICATIONS: Diarrhoea or dysentery due to bacteria, protozoa or mixed origin infection in pelvic inflammatory diseases. CONTRAINDICATIONS: Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to this product or any of its ingredients. SIDE EFFECTS: Strong metallic taste in the mouth, increased light sensitivity and gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, vomiting. PRECAUTIONS & WARNINGS: Not recommended for under 1 year of age. Must be used with caution in those with known or suspected central nervous system (CNS) disorders DOSAGE: As directed by the physician.
