Mechanism of Action: Silver Sulphadiazine acts as an antimicrobial agent by releasing silver ions, which have broad-spectrum antibacterial activity, preventing and treating bacterial infections in wounds. This promotes healing of the burns/wounds. Lignocaine acts as a local anaesthetic, providing pain relief by inhibiting nerve signals at the site of application, thereby reducing pain and discomfort associated with wounds. Chlorhexidine gluconate serves as an antiseptic with potent bactericidal and bacteriostatic properties, helping to prevent and control the growth of a wide range of bacteria on the skin and in wounds.
Indications: Silva cream is used to prevent and treat wound infections in patients with second and third-degree burns.
Dosage: As directed by the physician.
Side effects: Mild local irritation, itching, redness and numbness at the application site.
Contraindications: Patients with a history of hypersensitivity or allergic reactions to any of the components should not use the cream.
Precautions: Lignocaine, if absorbed systemically, can lead to side effects such as dizziness, confusion, or irregular heartbeat. Avoid excessive application or use over large areas of the body, especially in individuals with liver or kidney problems. Avoid contact with the eyes. If the cream comes into contact with the eyes, rinse thoroughly with water. Consult with a healthcare professional before using the cream during pregnancy or breastfeeding to assess potential risks and benefits. Use lignocaine with caution in individuals with porphyria, and monitor for any signs of exacerbation of the condition. The cream is for external use only. Do not ingest, and keep it out of reach of children. Individuals with underlying medical conditions, such as liver or kidney problems, should use the cream with caution.
