TORQUE’S TELMITOR AM

Description: Torque’s Telmitor AM Tablets contain Telmisartan which is a nonpeptide angiotensin II receptor (type AT1) antagonist and Amlodipine a calcium channel blocker, selective calcium channel blockers with mainly vascular effects. Pharmaceutical Dosage Form: Tablet Route of Administration: Oral Composition: Each uncoated bilayered tablet contains: Telmisartan IP                                40 mg Amlodipine Besilate IP Eq. to Amlodipine                           5 mg Excipients                                      q.s. Mechanism of Action: Telmisartan blocks the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin ll by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin ll to the AT1 receptor in many tissues, such as vascular smooth muscle and the adrenal gland. Its action is therefore independent of the pathways for angiotensin ll synthesis. The mechanism of the antihypertensive action of amlodipine is due to a direct relaxant effect on vascular smooth muscle. The precise mechanism by which amlodipine relieves angina has not been fully determined but amlodipine reduces total ischemic burden by the following two actions. Amlodipine dilates peripheral arterioles and thus, reduces the total peripheral resistance (afterload) against which the heart works. The mechanism of action of amlodipine also probably involves dilatation of the main coronary arteries and coronary arterioles, both in normal and ischemic regions. This dilatation increases myocardial oxygen delivery in patients with coronary artery spasm (Prinzmetal's or variant angina). Indications: Torque’s Telmitor AM is indicated in the treatment of hypertension, to lower blood pressure. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of fatal and nonfatal cardiovascular events, primarily strokes and myocardial infarctions. Dosage: As directed by the physician. Storage: Store protected from light & moisture, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Presentation: 20 x 10 Side effects: Diarrhea Back Pain Sinusitis Pharyngitis Upper Respiratory Tract Infections Headache Dizziness Fatigue Peripheral Oedema Flushing Palpitations Nausea Somnolence Contraindications: Torque’s Telmitor AM is contraindicated in patients with a known allergy to constituents or excipients, during pregnancy and lactation, in patients with severe hepatic failure or renal impairment or Dual Blockade of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System Drug Interactions: Torque’s Telmitor AM can cause drug interaction with following drugs: Warfarin Digoxin Lithium Ramipril and Ramiprilat Acetaminophen Amlodipine Glibenclamide Simvastatin Hydrochlorothiazide Ibuprofen Aliskiren
