DESCRIPTION:
Iron(III)-hydroxide Polymaltose Complex (IPC) is an iron preparation with non-ionic Iron and Polymaltose in a stable complex. Conventional iron salts contain iron in ferrous form, Iron Polymaltose Complex contains Iron in ferric form, thus preventing the formation of free radicals. It has rapid absorption, a high rate of iron utilization, effective haemoglobin production and excellent gastrointestinal tolerance. Folic Acid is a form of water-soluble vitamin B9 and is a key factor in the synthesis of nucleic acid (DNA & RNA). It is vital for the production of healthy red blood cells.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Hemoforte syrup is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of this product.
SIDE EFFECTS:
Nausea, regurgitation, constipation, pyrosis (burning sensation in the chest), an upset stomach may occur with the use of hematinics.
Iron may cause your stools to turn black, an effect that is not harmful.
These effects are usually temporary and may disappear as your body adjusts to this medication. If any of these effects persist or worsen, contact your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Since the iron is complex bound, ionic interaction with foodstuff components & tetracyclines, antacids are unlikely to occur.
