MECHANISM OF ACTION:
Aluminium Hydroxide acts on the hydrochloric acid in the stomach by neutralization, forming Aluminium Chloride salt and water. Magnesium Hydroxide increases peristaltic activity causing osmotic retention of fluids, thus resulting in bowel evacuation. It also reduces stomach acid by reacting with hydrochloric acid to form Magnesium Chloride. Simethicone lowers surface tension and facilitates gas dispersion by causing coalescence of gas bubbles in the GI tract, thus helping in their dispersion.
INDICATIONS:
Alox is used in gastrointestinal disorders manifested with hyperacidity (e.g., heartburn, epigastric
discomfort, or their equivalents) that are often associated with dyspepsia, peptic ulcer,
gastritis, peptic esophagitis, and hiatus hernia and increased gas production.

As directed by the physician.

Store in a cool, dark place. Protect from light.

SIDE EFFECTS:

Nausea, constipation may occur in some patients.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:
In patients with renal insufficiency because of a risk of an increase in magnesium and aluminium serum concentration due to the decreased excretion through the kidneys. Do not use in patients allergic to magnesium and aluminium.
 DRUG INTERACTIONS:
No drug interactions are known. There is no evidence that simethicone modifies the effects of other drugs.
PRECAUTIONS & WARNING:
Extensive use of aluminium-containing antacids may cause hypophosphatemia (low phosphate levels in the blood), which in severe cases could lead to muscle weakness, anorexia, and osteomalacia (softening of the bones due to defective bone mineralization).
