Chloramphenicol palmitate is a dichloroacetic acid derivative. It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic and is bacteriostatic.

COMPOSITION:

Chloramphenicol I.P. 0.5% w/v
Boric Acid I.P. 1.5% w/v
Borax I.P. 0.3% w/v
Phenylmercuric Nitrate I.P. 0.002% w/v
(As Preservative)

MECHANISM OF ACTION:
Chloramphenicol is an antibiotic that works by stopping the growth of bacteria.

INDICATIONS:
This medication treats only bacterial eye infections.

CONTRA-INDICATIONS:
Contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to any components of this product.

SIDE EFFECTS:
Eye discomfort, itching, redness, tearing, eyelid crusting, feeling as if something is in your eye, blurred vision, a bad taste in your mouth, or sensitivity to light may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Your doctor or pharmacist may already be aware of any possible drug interactions and may be monitoring you for them. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.

WARNINGS:
This medication should not be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using this medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have: an eye infection due to a virus (e.g., herpes, varicella), another type of eye infection (e.g., tuberculosis, fungus).

DOSAGE:
As directed by the physician.

DIRECTIONS:
Use the solution within one month after opening the container.
Do not use it if the solution contains particles/suspended matter.

STORAGE:
Store in a cool, dry place. Protect from light.
