MECHANISM OF ACTION: Fiximac-50 exerts its antibacterial action by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls through binding to penicillin-binding proteins, disrupting the formation of the cell wall and leading to bacterial cell death.
INDICATIONS: Fiximac-50 dry syrup is commonly given to children for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections targeting the ears, eyes, nose, throat, lungs, skin, gastrointestinal tract, and urinary tract. It can also be used in treating uncomplicated typhoid fever in children and adolescents.
DOSAGE: As directed by the physician.
SIDE EFFECTS: Diarrhoea, dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting. Hypersensitivity reactions like skin rashes and urticaria.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Fiximac-50 is contraindicated in patients with a known allergy to Cefixime or to the Cephalosporin group of antibiotics.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Fiximac-50 can interact with other drugs, potentially affecting their efficacy or increase the risk of side effects. Some notable drug interactions include – BCG Vaccine live, Cholera vaccine, Typhoid live vaccine, Antacids and H2 blockers, Probenecid, Nephrotoxic drugs, Warfarin, and Oral contraceptives.
