Ornidazole is a nitroimidazole which is an antibacterial and antiprotozoal drug used to treat anaerobic enteric protozoa. It is a drug that cures some protozoan infections. Ofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used for treating certain kinds of bacterial infections.
MECHANISM OF ACTION:
Ornidazole action occurs as a nitro group is reduced to amines that interact with DNA to cause the destruction of helical DNA structure and strand leading to a protein synthesis inhibition and cell death in susceptible organisms. Ofloxacin stops the production of bacteria by inhibiting the repair and reproduction of their genetic material (DNA).
